Transfer to Balbanyu River takes 8 hours. During the way, you can stop for lunch or to take a picture.. The grand road runs under tundra Pyasida, crosses Kozhim River and innumerable creaks. The first time we spell in tents on the bank of Balbanyu River . Grand road finishes at Zhelannuy settlement, famous for its quarts and crystal deposit. Trekking to Naroda begins from this point. The path runs via marshes and crosses Balbanyu River sometimes. Definitely, rubber boots will necessary for you. On the bank of Balbantu lake there is “chyum” – the home of reindeers herdsman. They are komi and till now keep traditional lifestyle from innumerable time. It takes one-day passage to go to Kar-kar pass. Spend a night in tent оn the bank of lake near Kar-kar pass in mountain tundra zone. There are not firewoods here. Only moss and grass grow. That is why you should use gas to prepare supper. Water in this lake is useful for drinking. The next day trekking to Naroda starts. If the weather is good (not cloudy) climbing is possible. The route runs through broken stones and rocks near small glaciers that don’t melt even in hot summer. On the top, there are many memorable signs, which every group leave here, such as changes, letters, medals, etc. You can take photo near 300-m steep declivity, and feel clouds, creeping through the top. Time of trekking up a top is above 3 hours and down – 1 hour. You will have dinner in the camp on the bank of Kar-kar lake. From this point, the second part of trekking begins. Mountain Manaraga After dinner in night camp, we’ll go up Kar-kar pass. The weather in this mountain is very changeable. So we try to cover as much distance this day as possible. The acrosses name Kar-kar means two steps, two kars . The highest step of Kar-kar consist of big stones. After overcoming Kar-kar we’ll stay on the Manaraga river head in bushes zone (dwarf willow and birch). The path runs along left bank of Manaraga river, during trekking to Manaraga’s footstool you can collect mushrooms and berries: bilberry, dropsy, cranberry and cloudberry. All day you can see a beautiful Manaraga’s view with all seven tops. The peak was named by mansi nation “bear’s paw”, komi hunters called her «Sizim-Ur», what is mean seven tops. Third day passage ends near Manaraga and Lomes-vozh junction. This place is comfortable for camping: you can hike Manaraga top and start rafting down Kosyu River from here. Water, some food and raincoat will necessary for you during climbing. At the beginning, a path crosses over taiga, after goes up along stone slope. Near a top, a small path runs along abrupt border of Manaraga. The last meters of instep are more difficult. However, view from a top will impressed you: you can see all peaks of Nepristupniy Ridge (Inaccessible Ridge), Kosyu and Kapkan-vozh valleys. After visiting Manaraga, we’ll prepare eqipment for rafting. In the upper part, the River Kosyu is rather stormy and abundant in exciting rapids. River’s velocity is 8 km/hour. Great number tributaries bring there water to Kosyu River . In first day of rafting we can see Mt. Manaraga from three side. During second day of rafting you can see the famous rapid Kedrovuy. Its length is 3 km; big stones lie in chaotic order in riverbed. The rapid Kedrovuy ends in dip hole with crystal water, where European graylings dwell. Lower Nidysey junction there is the famous rapid “Track”, where the river turns the right and all mass of water goes on the rocky plates. Another rapid “Bezgil” is dangerous only in spring water. In Indysey and Zybkalanyel Rivers junction wooden lodges situated. You can take sayna here. The next day of rafting from Zybkalanyel to Vangir river junction there are few rapids. In Vangir junction, we can stay in wooden lodge of old-believer Mezentzev. The house was built during Great Patriotic War provided elk’s meat for Red Army. Lower Vangir River Kosyu become calm.
